Character Development

Unit Description

The third module will address issues that Christians ask as they start growing in their experience with a walk with God. It has to do with their character development as children of God and are “born again.” Devotional and doctrinal development will lead to changed values and attitudes. It is what the Holy Spirit will be doing in the life of Christians who surrender their life to Christ. Consequently, priorities and behaviours will change. This significantly has to do with moral and ethics. Therefore, this module will include topics on what is God’s design for the believers’ life. It will address that Christianity is not a fatalistic religion. God has given humans the power of choice. With this power comes responsibility; people will decide what to do and what not to do, and be held accountable for their actions. Consequently, the Bible will be the plumb-line by which believers will measure their spiritual development. Since Christians believe that God created humans for His pleasure, then it is their responsibility to live according to His design. Consequently, He set standards for mankind to follow. They should follow the pattern that God set in the Bible as their rule for living a holistic lifestyle; loving God and His creation. As a special topic, this unit will address marriage and the home, which is the nucleus of God’s moral and ethical development to society. It will address moral and ethical behaviour of the couple and their children. The topic will emphasise the importance of choosing the right companion and the relationship of the couple before marriage and after. It will also discuss the duties of parent and children and how Christ is to be the centre of the family. The development of the character will prepare Christians to become servants of God in all area of life. This will be the content of the last module. Believers will be involved in their church’s vision and will develop a heart to evangelize and teach them what Christ has thought them. Consequently, an understanding of what the Church is must be understood and will be addressed in the final module.
